Larimer and Weld County Birding Hot Spots

A total of 10 people from Larimer and Weld Counties joined our field
trip beginning at 7 am. Hot spots visited were Cottonwood Hollow Natural
Area and Strauss Cabin Lake in Fort Collins; Timnath Reservoir; Gress
Reservoir and Woods Lake near Severance (Weld County); Weld CR51 north of
Galeton to CO 14; Crow Valley Campground and Murphy's Pasture (Pawnee
National Grassland); and Lower Latham Reservoir and Beebe Draw south of
Greeley (Weld County).
The highlights were re-finding the 2 Glossy Ibis and Caspian Tern
reported previously in Fort Collins, and finding a Nashville Warbler at
Crow Valley. A total of 101 species were observed, and just about everyone
on the trip had at least one life bird! Species list follows:
