Field Trip ReportApril 27, 2003 Leader: Beth Dillon Eight participants visited a dozen lakes and reservoirs in eastern Larimer County in search of water birds. We tallied 69 species, including 11 species of shorebirds, Eurasian Collared Doves, a Great-tailed Grackle, and a nesting Red-tail Hawk and Great-horned Owl. Perhaps the most thrilling observation was 3-4 Common Loons at North Poudre Reservoir #3, one of which belted out its eerie call. We also observed a Peregrine Falcon harass the gulls at #3 for several minutes as well.
