Field Trip Report

Douglas Reservoir

Five people met at Douglas Reservoir, north of Fort Collins at 9 AM. The weather was cool (~48º--then warmed to maybe 62 º F), sunny, and a bit windy.

We spent the first hour viewing waterfowl on Douglas Reservoir, then walked north on a footpath for about 1 1/2 hours. Total time about 2 1/2 hours.

Twenty-seven (27) species were seen are as follows:

American White Pelican
Horned Grebe
Western Grebe
Double-crested Cormorant
Canada Goose
Mallard
American Widgeon
Gadwall
Lesser Scaup (both sexes)
Ruddy Duck (males)
Ring-necked Duck
Common Merganser
American Coot
Ring-billed gull
Northern Harrier
Golden Eagle
Western Meadowlark
American Robin
American Goldfinch
Northern Flicker
American Kestrel
Black-Billed Magpie
American Crow
Blue Jay
Song Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Sparrow sp.
