About CCC

History of CCC

In the fall of 1983, Peggy Rosenkranz organized the
Centennial Children’s Chorus with the help of several
interested parents who shared her hope and dream that
Fort Collins could support a citywide children’s choir.

Starting with one choir of 57 voices, CCC has grown to
include four auditioned choirs with a total of 180 voices.
The original director of the Prep Choir, Florine Eitzen,
retired in the spring of 2001 after 15 years with CCC.

CCC Choirs

Jubilate
Jubilate is the most recent performing choir in the CCC organization and their members are in grades 4-7. Jubilate bid farewell last season to their original director, Karlin Gray, who retired after eight years, and this year welcomes Marlene Hutton as their new director.

Bel Canto
Bel Canto is for more advanced young singers in grades 3-5. They are directed by Sheri McKelfresh.

Cantare
Cantare is the intermediate choir for Grades 6-8 and is directed by Peggy Rosenkranz.

Sala Voce
Sala Voce is the most advanced group of singers in CCC and is also directed by Peggy Rosenkranz. This choir is open only to singers, grades 6 - 8, who have been in CCC for at least one year.

First Impressions
First Impressions is a select group of third-grade singers who meet i n a short-term workshop experience to increase their singing skills and prepare an informal performance.

Performance

The choirs have performed with many local and regional musical organizations including the Larimer Chorale, the Fort Collins Symphony, the Loveland Chamber Orchestra, the Fort Collins Chamber Chorale, the CSU Symphony Orchestra and Choir, and the University of Wyoming Orchestra and Choir.

CCC builds upon the vocal training offered in the schools and provides experiences and opportunities that choir members can carry with them throughout their lives. Former CCC members have gone on to teach music, perform in professional music organizations, and perform in musical theater in venues throughout the world.

Performance opportunities provide experiences in singing advanced choral literature as well as drama opportunities. CCC has sponsored three Children's Choir Festivals here in Fort Collins with nationally known directors: Scot Franklin, Henry Leck, and Francisco Nunez. Participating choirs have come form Greeley, Cheyenne, Colorado Springs, Littleton, and Longmont.
