The Colorado Early Childhood Professional Credential

In 1991 Governor Roy Romer, in an effort to increase the quality of early childhood programs, appointed a council to develop a viable career lattice and improve training for those who care for and educate our youngest children. This group of policy makers was convened by the Center for Human Investment Policy as the Colorado Early Childhood Professional Development Advisory Council. One of the outcomes of this group was the establishment of an Early Childhood Professional Development Credentialing System. There are six levels of credentialing offered through the Department of Human Services. For more information on credentialing contact:

To obtain an application for the Professional Credential, contact Lorna Greene at the Early Childhood Council at (970) 377-3388, ext 202. Stipends are available through the Early Childhood Council for people who receive credentials.
