Volunteers | Current Volunteers

Volunteers are a vital part of every program offered by Crossroads Safehouse. We have positions available for both direct service and non-direct service volunteers.

Direct Service Volunteers Direct service volunteers are individuals assisting with programs involving direct client advocacy.The volunteers are required to go through 28-40 hours of training. Training sessions are held three times per year, typically in February, June, and September.

Direct service volunteers are needed for the following programs:

• Youth program: support groups, Safe Pals mentoring program, Youth Leadership, Enrichment, Achievement and Development (LEAD) Program
• Crisis intervention and Safehouse work
• Legal Advocacy
• Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART)

The time commitment for each program varies. The average time commitment is one-to-four-hours per week, and there is always the potential to do more. We ask that you commit to staying an active volunteer for at least 20 weeks.

Non-direct service volunteers are needed for a variety of activities and programs that do not involve direct client client advocacy. Non-direct service volunteer opportunities depend on the needs of the agency at the time, but may include:

• General clerical support at the Outreach Center
• Yard and facilities work
• Fundraisers (i.e. Fabric of Legacies Quilt, Anniversary Gala, Crossroads Marathon, etc.)
• Awareness programs (e.g. tables/booths at local events, distribution of Crossroads' posters)
• Organizing donation items at the Outreach Center & Safehouse
• Special projects

All volunteer applicants are asked to complete an application, provide three references, and call the Volunteer Coordinator to set up a 30-minute interview. Simply fill out and return the downloadable PDF files of the application, and the reference form. Potential direct service volunteers may also review the training dates.
