HTML committee meeting minutes
January 12, 1995
Meeting started at 7:30 at the shed.
Information provider developments were discussed by ME Buning:
- New info provider agreement just about to be released and sent out to
previous signers + new info providers.
- Following Sunday's article several community groups are interested in their
info being on FortNet: Parents without Parners, The Women's Center, The
Senior Center, possibly the Recreator.
- ME Buning working on an info provider packet to speed the process of
bringing info in
- Had discussion with Red Cross, following a final discussion they will begin
to contribute information. Gerry Mitchell will assist with that.
- If someone is interested in developing web pages on missing children,
contact: (can some one re supply the name of the person to download graphic
images from)
- suggestion was made to contact the Humane Society to see if they are
interested in supplying information via FortNet.
- Had discussion with Dave Warner at Parks and Rec re the Recreator. He may
be interested in putting just released info on FortNet. Even if not that we
will begin to put their press releases on activities into the web.
The following assignments were given and progress on previously given
assignments was reported:
- Brian Gartner - Learn and grow publication from PVH is now mostly out of
date. Will contact PVH to get more current information. (I called PVH and
the new publication is now finished. Permissions to release it to FortNet
are being secured)
- Garret Burton - The January "Scene" music calendar is in progress. This info
really is needed on the web as there is little entertainment info. Dave
Cleaver at The Scene has applied for an account and plans to be at the next
general meeting.
- Greg Luse - City line needs a good city logo, otherwise ready to be uploaded.
-
Margaret Sturgill- Senior Advisory Board and Friends of the Senior Center is
uploaded.
-
Hans Amann - took assignment of the Larimer County 4-H pages. Mary Ellen to
help with creating a menu to tie these pages into a cohesive document if Hans
wants. The Commission on Disabilities is in progress.
-
Scott Bayes - will look over the materials gathered from the Visitors and
Convention Center. Goal is to prepare a section for FortNet called the
"Tourist Bureau" that will show how to get around town and what to do in Fort
Collins. MEB to contact the Triangle Review.
-
Tom Gaucher - The Colorado Job Service pages are uploaded to the Webmaster.
-
Julie Evans - The Lincoln Center "Marquee" publication is underway.
-
Howie Grapek - Took assignment of the Water Meter Program bulletin. The
Water Dept would like for it to have a form so people can volunteer for a
meter on line. Howie agreed to develop this form as a teaching tool for the
html group.
-
ME Buning - "uploaded" (actually slid them across the table) Disability
Connection pages/gifs to the Webmadame.
-
Brett Holm- Helpline pages are in progress
-
Eric Bamberg- Will upload the Transfort Pages to the web on Sunday afternoon.
He wants the Transfort folks to look at it there. Lisa said to be sure he
has her beeper number (226-7406) if he needs assist.
-
Jim Hebbeln - had no assignment but interested in developing telephone
exchange information for FortNet.
-
Dilip Muranjan - will complete (or return) the water conservation tip sheet
but has computer problems and so will not continue with the group. (Did I get
this right, Greg?)
Discussion: There is a big need for a HTML strategy to coordinate all the
various calendar infomation that comes in from a wide range of community
information providers (ie., Lincoln Center, Sr. Center, The Scene, Visitors
and Convention Center, PVH's Learn and Grow, etc.) Unix calendar templates,
date listing conventions and calendar compiling strategies were discussed.
At the next meeting the committee should commit some effort to deciding on a
standard and implementing a strategy so that calendar information can begin
to be developed for FortNet.
Presentation: Howie did a slide presentation and discussion of standards
that will be enacted for the FortNet web pages.
Next presentation: Creation of forms for web documents.
Next meeting: Thursday, January 26, at 6:30 at the shed. The shed is a tan,
corrugated metal building, with small windows high in the walls, located at
the far north west end of the Utilities complex which is located at 720 Wood
Street (near the intersection of Wood and Vine streets)
