New Business
- The date and time that attendees could attend an HTML
the meeting was put to a vote:
- Monday - 8
- Tuesday - 13
- Wednesday - 19
- Thursday - 19
- Friday - 3
Meetings will continue to be held every second and fourth Wednesday
at 7pm in the training room adjacent to the FortNet Communications office
at 145 East Mountain Avenue.
- A review of information providers was held:
- The attendees offered several corrections, which are to be
incorporated in the list:
- Several providers were not listed as having email.
- Some providers' web pages were not on the list.
- The City of Fort Collins pages will be added to the list.
- A notation will be added to each entry of the list, indicating
whether the provider is for-profit organization or not.
- The information provider policies
were reviewed briefly.
- A lengthy discussion about HTML procedures, quality assurance,
and the role of sponsors took place.
- The
HTML QA Standard
(http://www.fortnet.org/INFOPROVIDER/htmlqastd.html) was reviewed briefly:
- HTML 3.0 will be allowed if the HTML document doesn't 'break' Lynx
- The current button bar may be abbreviated to a FortNet icon linked to
the FortNet homepage, per a board decision; FortNet-owned documents
will continue to use the curent buton bar.
- The HTML QA Standard will be printed, distributed, and reviewed at
the next meeting (10/11/95).
- The default navigation path from a provider's document must work
in Lynx.
- To subscribe to the HTML listserver group:
- Mail to html-request@fortnet.org
- Ensure the the message body contains the line:
- SUBSCRIBE
- Email addresses (and their usage) for HTML QA are:
- htmltodo@fortnet.org - describe new documents to be HTMLized
- htmlqa@fortnet.org - notify webmasters of documents to be
checked for HTML QA compliance and (if they pass the check)
added to FortNet's web site.
- webmaster@fortnet.org - notify webmasters of other problems,
ideas, complaints, suggestions, etc.

- Sessions for upcoming meetings were suggested:
- Beginner's course in HTML [T. Burton, 10/11/95]

- HTML tools [L. Beal, 10/25/95]

- Graphics in HTML [future]

- Those with interest in teaching should contact Lisa Beal (lbeal) or
Roger May (ramay).
- Small, informal groups may discuss one or more of these topics
outside the meeting timeframe.
- Roger May took questions to be asked of the two FortNet boards:
- Q1. How does the search engine work?
- Q2. When will FortNet get a T1 line?
- A2. [Neil Allen] We are still waiting on U.S. West to solve a
switching problem between Boulder and Fotr Collins.
- Q3. Could the FortNet board supply a written list of directives that
affect how the HTML QA standard will change?
- Needs, wishes, desires:
- It was suggested that the FortNet HTML group publish a monthly
column via FortNet's newsletter.
