FORT COLLINS-- The FortNet office is moving to 213 Linden Street, Suite 240 on August 1, 1998. The new location will have one suite for the office staff and one with a computer work station. Information Providers, non-profit organizations creating or updating their FortNet web sites, may make an appointment to use the work station by calling 224-5991.

With the office move to smaller quarters, the downtown Community Center will close on July 24. The computer equipment will be re-distributed throughout the community to various partnering agencies. There will not be just one center, but several Internet access points for Fort Collins and Larimer County residents!

In this transformation, FortNet will partner with agencies sharing the same mission of offering the public an Internet browsing experience. FortNet will provide a computer configured for Internet access with a 56K internal modem and a FortNet volunteer for training and support.

Agencies interested in a FortNet Community Access Point partnership may contact FortNet at 224-5991 for more information. The public is also invited to suggest an agency that may be a good fit for this program.

Announcements will be made of new FortNet Community Access Points as they are established this fall. Until then, other locations offering free access to the Internet are the Fort Collins Public Libraries, the Fort Collins Senior Center and the Loveland Public Library.

Since its inception in 1994, FortNet has served as the local leader in building Fort Collins’ presence on the Internet and the community’s understanding of Internet technologies. FortNet’s services include its comprehensive community information website (www.fortnet.org), monthly Internet classes, the annual FortNet Community Internet festival that draws over 1,000 participants and much more.
