USED
BOOK SALES are held twice a year in the Spring and Fall. Each sale
begins with a preview sale for members only on a Friday evening. The sale is open to the public on Saturday
and on Sunday. All proceeds from the sale are
used to support the Library.
Donations
of used books in good condition, CDs, Videotapes, Vinyl Records, and
Books on Tape are accepted year round. We do not accept encyclopedias,
Readers Digest Condensed books, or out-of-date computer
books. Donations may be brought to the library loading dock during
regular library hours. Pick-ups of used books can be arranged by
calling 962-2712.
SWEETNIGHT FOR THE LIBRARY is a gala evening of desserts, beverages,
dancing and easy listening music held in early February each year. An
admission fee is charged and a silent auction at the event raises funds
to underwrite the Traveling Storyteller in the Parks Program presented
by the library each summer. The Traveling Storyteller visits Loveland
Parks for 11 weeks during the summer, presenting stories and
entertainment to more than 3000 children and their parents. The
event is usually held early in February. Sponsors and donors are always needed
to underwrite the entertainment and refreshments for the event. Donors
are solicited to provide silent auction items.
LOVELAND
LOVES TO READ is a “One Book—One Community” project. Each year a
book is selected and all interested citizens of Loveland are asked to
read the book and join in discussions. The author of the book is
invited to Loveland to talk about their experiences and about the book.
Loveland Loves to Read presents a variety of programs related to the
subject of the books in the weeks before and after the author’s visit.
The program is held in September or October, depending on the
availability of the Author.
Sponsors
and donors are always needed to underwrite the cost of bringing a
well-known author to Loveland and advertising the program.
LOVELAND
LIGHTS is a program designed to provide entertainment and
information about the winter holiday traditions of a variety of
cultures. It is held at the library on the first weekend in
December. It features exhibits, live demonstrations and
programs. Exhibits feature collections with winter themes. Live
demonstrations include preparation of holiday treats. Programs include
music and stories for adults and children and information about the
origin of holiday traditions. The library is decorated with holiday
trees and other adornments related to the holidays. Seasonal baked
goods and books about the holidays are on sale. There is an annual
contest to engage children in finding an item such as a Christmas Pickle
or Christmas Spider in the library. The event is free. Volunteers and
donors are needed and exhibitors are invited to share their hobby.
