Hansel and Gretel - Audition Information

Note: All auditions will be held at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2500 N. Garfield Ave, Loveland, CO 80538

PRINCIPAL AUDITIONS - Saturday 10/3/09 - 9am-5pm - (accompanist provided)
Prepare on aria in English. In addition, prepare the following selections from Hansel and Gretel based on the role you are auditioning for. This should be sung in English (G. Schirmer score) and need not be memorized.
- Gretel: “Where Am I … good morning” p. 106-107
- Hansel: “Goosey goosey gander…pay” p. 13 and “Gretel, sh …….hush” p. 142
- Mother: “Out both of you out…dear God, send help to me.” (p. 38-41 - cut piano part scores 3-5, pickup last bar of p. 39)
- Father: “Now’s my chance…only half of what I earned” p. 53-54
- Witch: "Now darling, don't you give yourself airs!" p. 129-134 (CUT Hansel 3rd score)…continue with “ha, ha ….end with quite captivating.
- Sandman: "I shut the children's peepers..." p. 91-93
- Dew Fairy: "I'm up with early dawning..." p. 103-105
PRINCIPAL CALL BACKS - Sunday 10/4/09 - 2pm-5pm - (accompanist provided)
Be prepared to sing any of the excerpts from October 3rd plus the following sections based on the role you are auditioning for. This should be sung in English and need not be memorized.
- Hansel & Gretel: "“No one’s here Gretel dear … ah”" p. 88-90 and "When at night I go to sleep" p. 93-94
- Mother & Father: "Tra la la …won’t we have a happy time" p. 52
CHILDREN'S CHORUS AUDITIONS - Saturday 10/17/09 - 9am-5pm - (accompanist provided)
Requirements:
- Please prepare a song of your choice.
- Auditionees should be in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade.
