Dr. Juliana Bishop Hoch

Dr. Juliana Bishop Hoch

Dr. Bishop Hoch is the Executive and Artistic Director of Loveland Opera Theatre, and she maintains a private voice studio in Loveland. She founded LOT in 2004 and since then has produced The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan (2007), LOT’s 2006 Gala, and “Love Makes The World Go Round” (2006) an evening of opera scenes for the company. She also created “What Is Opera?” an outreach program that reaches out to the entire front range of Colorado bringing opera to elementary, middle school and high school audiences. “What Is Opera?” features LOT singers in programs that demonstrate how “fun” opera can be!

A native of Denver, Colorado, Dr. Bishop Hoch has sung with numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout the United States, Europe and China, including the Beijing National Symphony, Washington Civic Opera, the Blossom Opera Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Mississippi Opera Festival of the South, Westchester Opera, UNC Opera Theatre, Eastman Opera Theatre, John Brownlee Opera Theatre, the National Symphony, Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Virtuosi Orchestra and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dr. Bishop Hoch holds her doctorate degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy with an Opera Directing secondary emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado. Her dissertation entitled The Solo Songs with Keyboard Accompaniment of Robert Edward Kreutz received the Dean’s Citation for Outstanding Dissertation in 2004. She received her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She lives at home in Loveland with her husband, baritone Robert Hoch, and her two children Matthew and Nathan.

Majorie Monroe-Fischer

Marjorie Monroe-Fischer

Marjorie Monroe-Fischer (Conductor) has been conducting in the Northern Colorado area for fourteen years. Formerly on the faculty at Sheldon Jackson College in Alaska, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and AIMS Community College, she has been the conductor for Loveland Opera Theatre since its inception, including the spring, 2007 production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. Ms. Monroe-Fischer conducted the orchestra and chorus of the Oratorio Society of Estes Park, and has been organist and choir director for several Loveland churches. She has organ performance and choral conducting degrees from Trinity College of Music in London, England, Saint Olaf College, Colorado State University and her doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado is “all but dissertation.” Ms. Monroe-Fischer has been musical director for numerous musical theater productions, and has produced, directed and conducted two previous Gilbert and Sullivan productions, Trial by Jury and The Mikado. She maintains a private piano studio in Loveland. She also spent six months teaching English and studying Chinese language and art in the People’s Republic of China. She lives in Loveland with her husband and their two Scottish Terriers, Duncan and Bonnie.
