Among These Hills II

Cover of Book

The Club published the book shown here, the second edition of Among These Hills, A History of Livermore, Colorado, in 2009. The first edition was published in 1995 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Livermore Woman's Club. Although the first edition is out of print, copies are available for check-out through both the RED FEATHER LAKES COMMUNITY LIBRARY and the POUDRE RIVER LIBRARY DISTRICT.

The second edition consists of 270 pages divided into 6 chapters:

1. Pre-History of the Livermore Area (Native Americans before and after contact with Europeans)
2. Landmarks and Other Points of Interest (A roadside tour of landmarks and points of interest)
3. Early Social and Community Organizations (Schools, Churches, Rodeos, Stockgrowers Association)
4. Early Commercial Enterprises (Overland Stage, Hotels, Post Offices, Utilities, Quarries)
5. Roads, Trails, and Waterways (Red Feather Lakes Road, Dadd Gulch Stock Driveway; North Poudre Irrigation)
6. Traditional and Guest Ranches: Their Stewards and Stories (Ranch histories, written in some cases by descendents of the original owners)

"Among These Hills II" contains many more photographs than the first edition, an extensive index, and a large, fold-out map showing the location of more than 100 points of interest discussed in the book.
