1999 conference to be held in Albuquerque, N.M.

The 1998 convention was held in Colorado Springs, Colo., with two- and fuor-year institutions attending and competing in two competitions.

Member schools first mailed in entries for the "canned" contest and then competed in the "live" competition held on site at the convention.

In addition to the traditional writing and photography, a research scavenger hunt was also held. New to the 1997 convention was the added Web site competition. Students were required to cover a press conference, write a story and then design a Web page.

Following the election of new board members, it was decided to hold the 1999 convention in Albuquerque--a departure from recent years.
