For all string instruments (including harp), please prepare the following
material:
1) Two scales, one Major and one minor.
Prepare 2 or 3 octaves. Separate bows or slurs of 3 or 4 are acceptable.
Applicants may be asked to demonstrate different bowing styles, such
as spiccato, détaché, martelé, etc.
2) 1 – 2 minutes of a standard solo work; no piano accompaniment.
3) Choose and prepare 2 of the listed excerpts (click on the links at left to
download
a
Word document with the required excerpts for violin, viola, cello, bass, and
harp,
along
with
links
to free sheet music of all excerpts)
4) Sight-reading may be required.
5) Auditions are closed to the public, including parents and families.
Please note that when selecting the audition material to prepare, the applicant
should choose according to what best demonstrates his/her technical and musical
abilities.
