Community Awareness and Response Program

Community Awareness and Response assists the general public, inclusive of both people with disabilities and non-disabled people, in ways that enhance their lives and independence. In this program, those who are disabled do not require extensive assistance from DRS. Short-term assistance to both non-disabled and disabled individuals include:

These services enhance the lives of those served in terms of increased well being and knowledge gained.

Community Awareness and Response offers comprehensive, disability-specific information and referral, a newsletter publication, coordination of volunteers to help disabled people, and is the area’s two major equipment loan closets with an inventory of over 600 items. These services are designed to enhance the lives and well-being of those served, although a person might have only a temporary disability or a condition not requiring in-depth assistance. Go to top
