Hello!
I want to invite you to participate with me in the 2005 Muscular
Dystrophy Association (MDA) Stride and Ride Fundraiser at Forest Park in
Springfield, MA on June 12th! My
family and I moved to Georgia in July but I still stay involved with fundraising
for the MDA in Western MA. I will
be going up to Massachusetts to participate with this event in June.
There
will be a meeting on Tuesday May 10th from 6-7 pm to kick-off the
Walk for TEAM LAURA at the Hilton Garden hotel next to the Basketball Hall of
Fame. You can meet old friends and supporters and pick up your walk kit for TEAM
LAURA at this meeting. If you
cannot make it please call the MDA office at (413) 567-5500 and they will send
you one.
I
finish my senior year in about three weeks and next year I’ll be attending
Berry College in Rome, GA. I really
want to be a 2nd grade teacher because I love kids!
I am getting a power wheelchair to help me get around at the college.
Of course, Munroe will be coming to college with me!

to your support, last year’s event was a success, raising over $20,000 with
approximately 200 walkers! Most of
those donations and many of those walkers were from TEAM LAURA – we raised
$16260! Your donations support MDA
summer camps, medical equipment for the needy, and especially the research that
the MDA conducts for neuromuscular diseases -- including ongoing clinical trials
at the NIH in Washington for my illness, Friedreich’s ataxia.
Research is very important and everyday I hope that there will be a cure.
So
spread the news around to your friends and family and let them know that I need
their help!!
