            Children are attracted to the computers available for their use at the Council Tree branch of the Poudre River Library District.     

 

July Book Sale Dates Set

The Friends summer book sale will be held July 9 through 12, 2009 at Harmony Branch Library located at Harmony and Shields on the campus of the Front Range Community College.

 

The sale with start Thursday evening and run between the hours of 5 to 8 PM. It will be open to the general public as well as Friends members.

 

Sales hours on Friday will be from 10 AM to 6 PM
Saturday hours will be from 10 AM to 5 PM
Sunday hours will be from 1 to 4 PM with books sold
then at half price.

You can expect to find additional titles available each day so plan to return for additional browsing and purchasing.

Volunteer Help Needed

Have you ever wanted to manage a small bookshop? If you have, or even you have never considered it, there is an opportunity now to do so. The Friends Bookshop at the Harmony Library is currently operating under the management of Sue Grebel with a staff of volunteer sales persons. Although Sue desires to stay involved, health conditions are making it difficult for her to continue to handle the lifting that is involved and she is hoping for a replacement as soon as possible.The position requires:

  • Good organizational skills 
  • Ability to work well with people
  • Good knowledge of books
  • Ability to lift and carry book boxes of 20 t0 40 pounds

Some of the tasks involved include picking  up, sorting and pricing books for restocking of the shop. Management tasks include:

  • Organize the shop
  • Restock books in the shop
  • Develop and document procedures for volunteers
  • Work with the scheduling person and the financial officers of the Friends
  • Liaison with the library and Front Range Community College
  • Solve any problems that arise.

    The job requires between ten and twenty hours a week but the work load could be lessened if shared by  two persons with one assuming the management responsibilities. For further information, please call Sue Grebel at 225-2657.

    Book Donations

If you have books that you would like to donate for future book sales, they may be dropped off during business hours at the loading dock of the Main branch of the Library or at the Harmony Branch.
