Who Are the
Friends of the Library?
Fort Collins Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization founded
in 1939. Membership is open to all in the community who are interested in supporting
the Fort Collins Public Library. Our mission is to enrich the educational and
financial resources of the Library as well as to act as an advocate for it and to increase
the awareness of its value to the community.
The Friends
- Provide financial support - such as underwriting the Children's Summer Reading
Program and purchasing technological materials above and beyond the library's
budget.
- Host six noon and evening programs a year to which the public is
invited. These include lectures and forums on a variety of interesting subjects.
- Publish a newsletter containing announcements of library activities,
events at the museum and activities of the Friends.
- Hold an annual used book sale at the Foothills Mall, and two
"mini" sales held at the Harmony Library earning funds to supplement
the library's annual budget.
- Advocate for the library - for future branch libraries, a new main
library and for public awareness of the value of libraries.
- Operates a used book shop at the Harmony Library
We invite you to join with us in these activities by becoming a
member too. |
