Calling all Artists
and Art-Appreciators! Join us for this special event.
You'll see some awesome creations by local artists, with the opportunity to
purchase
some of their work for your very own. Choose from ceramics, textiles,
paintings,
photos, drawings and sculptures. A
silent auction will be held with the proceeds
going the the Children's Art Foundation, which offers less fortunate kids in our
community the chance to take classes in cultural arts.

Why
an Art Show?
We live in a community where art is all around us - from
sculptures downtown to the school district art displays in the mall, art is
everywhere. Across
America, art programs are being eliminated from schools due to lack of funding.
Not only are children suffering from the
lack of visual art, dance and music in their lives and education, but the rest
of our society will suffer as art disappears from our lives.
We feel very fortunate to live in a community where art is so highly regarded, and want to help support artists of every age and ability. We
also want to give the community a chance to get involved in all aspects of the show - from volunteering, to entering as an artist, to sponsorship of the show and participating artists, to show attendance.Who
Benefits?
Aside from the community artists who display and sell their work
at the show, and the community members who attend the show, we want the
Community Art Show to provide a tangible benefit to those who have a need for
art in their lives, but do not have the financial means for
formal training. The proceeds from the show will go toward art/music/dance class
fees for less fortunate children in the community who express
a desire for formal training in the arts.
Who
is an “Artist”?
Anyone! There will be two artist categories, based on age - “Ages
6 - 12” and “Ages 13 and Up.” Artists of any level are welcome - professionals,
amateurs and those who decide to try something new. Do you have a friend,
colleague, neighbor, family member, or employee who
has expressed an interest in creating art? Have you? This is a great,
no-pressure, low cost way to share art with the rest of Fort Collins.
What
Kind of Art?
There will be 6 medium categories in the show - ceramics,
textiles, painting, photography, drawing, and sculpture. As children will be in
attendance, we are
asking that piece themes remain family-friendly. Guidelines for entry are
available on the website.
