Larimer County Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group

About the LCGRG Support Group

Who We Are

We are grandparents, right here in Larimer County, who are raising our grandchildren. Some of us have legal custody or guardianship of our grandchildren, while some of us have adopted them. Others among us do not have the legal safeguards in place to ensure that our grandchildren are safe and thriving. Yet we carry on.

While our individual stories may differ, there is a common thread that weaves its way through our lives. What unites us is the shared story of our commitment to our grandchildren and other kin in our care, our willingness to be parents to them when their birth parents could not or would not do so.

Our Mission

To provide local support, information, referral and advocacy to caregivers who are raising their grandchildren.

To educate public and private agencies, community organizations, and judicial and legislative systems concerning the needs of the caregiver grandparents and of the children.

Thanks to the Jessups and Sylvan Dale ...

Spoke with Linda Jessup today. One of our Grandfamilies wrote a nice note in appreciation for the day. It included her gratitude and her grandchild also wrote in appreciation. Linda said that her staff truly appreciated our families at the event and that she posted the note for them and they all agreed that our families are the best. For those who attended the Grandfamily Day at Sylvan Dale Ranch I was wondering if you would mind taking a little bit of   time to write a e-mail note or hand written note that I can forward on to the Folks at Sylvan Dale to show our appreciation for creating such a memorable day. We hope to continue our relationship with the Ranch and want to create many more memorable days to come.

I also want to express my appreciation to all of our Grandfamilies who help and support one another as well as myself. It is a privilege to be able to be a part of so many of your lives share in your struggles and celebrations. Every day I am blown away by the amount of love, compassion, wisdom and caring that you all share with one another. It is truly something special and I want to thank you for letting me be a part of it.
