Grandfamilies State Law and Policy Resource Center
» The Grandfamilies State Law and Policy Resource Center serves as a national legal resource created to educate individuals about state laws and legislation in support of grandfamilies and to assist interested state legislators, advocates, caregivers, attorneys, and other policymakers in exploring policy options to support relatives and the children in their care both within and outside the child welfare system.

» The Grandfamilies State Law and Policy Resource Center is a collaboration between Casey Family Programs, the American Bar Association’s Center on Children and the Law and Generations United.

» This is an excellent web site, with information on avoiding, detecting, and dealing with many types of fraud, with other related information.  

Call a Lawyer Night

» Who: Open to the public
» What: Members of the Young Lawyers Division of the Larimer County Bar will answer telephone calls from the public concerning legal issues. Referrals to specific attorneys are not given, but are made to legal services, web sites, non-profits, and other resources. Brief advice may also be given.

» Who: All parents with minor children who need or are owed child support. Limited services for obligors.
» What: Can apply for CSE services.

» Who: Clients who qualify, residents of Larimer County
» What: Free civil legal services. Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines. Does not handle criminal, DUI, traffic, misdemeanor, workers compensation, or personal injury cases.
» When: 8:30 am -12:00 noon, 1:00 - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday

» Who: Eligible Colorado University State students
» What: Provides legal advice and counsel on a variety of legal issues.

» Who: All persons experiencing domestic violence
» What: Agency provides legal advocacy and also has pro bono attorneys to offer brief advice during the evening, every two weeks.

Dependency and Neglect

» Who: Parents who qualify, residents of Larimer County
» What: Court appointed legal representation for parents in a dependency and neglect proceeding.
» When: Office hours or 24 hours (online)
» Where: Forms may be purchased at the Clerk of Court’s office or downloaded from the Court’s web page.

Fort Collins Pro Bono Intakes

» Who: Clients who qualify, residents of Ft Collins, Red Feather Lakes, Bellevue, Wellington and areas north of Trilby Road
» What: Referral to private legal counsel (pro bono) or referred to appropriate agencies. Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines. Intakes do not handle bankruptcy, criminal, workers compensation, social security or personal injury cases. First come, first served, 8 eligible intakes.
» When: Wednesdays at 12 :00 noon (except on major holidays, week of Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Year’s)
» Where: Larimer County Justice Center, 201 LaPorte Avenue, Ft. Collins, 4th floor

Larimer County District Court Pro Se Class

» Who: Open to the public
» What: No legal advice, only legal information clinics to help individuals process their own dissolution of marriage (divorce) or allocation of parental responsibility (custody) actions.
» When: Every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 3:00 -5:00 pm

Loveland Pro Bono Intakes

» Who: Clients who qualify, residents of  Loveland, Estes Park, Berthoud, Masonville, and areas south of Trilby Road
» What: Referral to private legal counsel (pro bono) or referred to appropriate agencies. Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines. Intakes do not handle bankruptcy, criminal, workers compensation, social security or personal injury cases. First come, first served, 6 eligible intakes.

Senior Citizen Law Project, Wallace and Kling, P.C.
» What: Provides legal assistance to individuals 60 years of age and older through a contract with the Larimer County Department of Human Services, Office on Aging. The contract requires that priority be given to legal assistance related to income, health care, long-term care, housing, utilities, protective services, defense of guardianship, abuse, neglect and age discrimination.
The following legal services are NOT covered under the contract: guardianships, bankruptcy, financial counseling, advanced estate planning, trusts (except Medicaid income trusts), divorce, lawsuits or any fee generating cases.
Services are provided free of charge, without regard to income or resources (a donation to the program is requested). Because funds are limited, the services are primarily brief and advice only.
