the south- side of Chicago during the turbulent 60's. While in Wisconsin, he received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Personal reasons caused Ken to leave the Lutheran Church, and he spent much of the next fifteen years frustrated with God and angry at organized religion. During this period he worked in special education first as a teacher then as the administrator of special education programs for ten suburban St. Louis school districts. Ken made a career change to human resources and was employed by the St. Louis Public Schools. He later moved to the St. Louis Community College System as manager of employment, affirmative action officer, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance officer, and headed the sexual harassment prevention program.
Then, at the invitation of a friend, Ken attended a service at the Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis and immediately knew he was home. Once again following his call to the ministry, he began his preparation for that ministry through the Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) and was ordained in mid 80's. Ken was founding pastor of one of the Metropolitan Community Churches in St. Louis and originally came to Colorado to serve as the interim pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church in Ft. Collins. He also served as district coordinator for over thirty churches in ten states and western Canada.
Since moving to Colorado, Ken was the Coordinator of Outreach-Resources for MCC of the Rockies in Denver and was interim pastor of the Fort Collins Mennonite Fellowship. He was also a volunteer with the Hospice of Larimer County. Ken is currently vice president of the Board of Directors for the Northern Colorado AIDS Project and also serves on the Board of the United Campus Minstry - Geller Center for Spiritual Development. He also serves the denomination as a mentor with the Church Revitalization Initiative.
