ABOUT US
OUR MISSION: To create excellent recreational and competitive synchronized swimming
programs in Northern Colorado, which promote positive healthy development of the
whole swimmer, supporting each swimmer’s individual goals, through participation and achievement in team oriented
instruction and training in the art and sport of synchronized swimming.
OUR VALUES:
Joyfully welcoming all who discover that they enjoy the athleticism and artistry
of “synchro”.
Supporting and encouraging each other by striving to be great
instructors, coaches, parents, mentors, and friends.
Deriving personal and team success from healthy
relationships, clear communication, responsibility, discipline, commitment, and
a sense of humor.
Requiring all creative expression to be done in good
taste.
Valuing competition for the learning experience and
motivational goal it provides.
Honoring the gifts and talents that each coach, swimmer and family brings to our
programs, as well as the need for us all to find balance in our lives.
Treating each other with respect and kindness at all times.
Behaving with integrity and making decisions cooperatively.
OUR STRUCTURE: Our team was formed in the fall of 2000. We
operate as two cooperative entities. The parent group provides support to the
team in a variety of ways and raises money through fundraising projects. JoAnne
Bennett is the Director, and operates the team as a business.
OUR INSTRUCTORS AND COACHES:
- JoAnne Bennett was a speed and synchro
swimmer in her youth in the Cleveland
area and has been coaching synchro in the Northern Colorado area since 1998.
- Sarena Becker swam
synchro for 8 years in Boulder, competing at the national level, and has been on our staff since fall of 2005.
She did all the ground work to start the Synchro Team at CSU in the fall of
2008 and continues to be its primary leader. She is finishing up at
CSU this year doing her student teaching for her Art Education degree.
- Kelly Stamm comes to us for her third year from Olympia,
Washington where she swam synchro and speed for many years, competing
nationally in synchro. She is a junior at CSU studying
engineering education, plays for the club water polo team, and works with Sarena
and Blair to run the CSU Synchro Team.
- Celia Peitsch joined our staff last season. She is
junior at CSU from Salt Lake City, majoring
in Computer Engineering. Celia brings extensive modern dance training and
is on the CSU Synchro Team.
- Kayla McAuliffe returns this year after
taking a year off during her first year at CSU. Kayla has been
involved in synchro in the area since she was twelve as a swimmer and coach
for both Orcas and the summer team. We are happy to have her back!
- Rachel Minor joins us this year as the Novice
coach for our little girls. She was an Orca herslef for four years and
always loved to help the other younger swimmers. She is a junior in
high school in Loveland.
- Blair Curley Everett swam synchro in
Columbus, Ohio, competed at the national level, and then at the collegiate level for University of
William & Mary. She is now employed by Budweiser as an environmental
engineer, helps out at our practices in her spare time,
and coaches the CSU Synchro Team.
