Award forms are due to Jennifer by Wednesday, May 16th. Be sure to include service pin information on your award sheet.

Fort Collins Scout store is closing May 24th or it’s a long trip to Greeley…

Colorado Division of Wildlife office (on south side of Prospect, just west of College) is having Bear Awareness week. There is a display of bear-proof camps, footprints, posters, etc.

Day Camp Information Meeting – Please remind parents that there will be a day camp information meeting at 6:45PM in the flex room prior to the pack meeting on May 23rd.

Graduation Ceremony practice – Melinda’s house on Monday, May 21 from 6:30-7:30.

Cub Scout Basic Training will be held May 22 and 24 from 6:30-8:30PM at McGraw Elementary. Contact Kelley Wittmeyer at kelley@atmos.colostate.edu if you have any parents who want to attend.

Pack items purchased so far include: 1 large ground tarp, 4 lightweight side tarps, wheeled cooler, 2 large water dispensers, 8 storage tubs, 4 blue ice packs, set of tent stakes, first aid kit. These items are all housed at the storage unit and the committee chairman currently has a sign-out book until we can find a quartermaster.

Summer Activities flyers should be distributed to parents by now. Please remind them to RSVP if needed. Remind parents that the Air Force tour RSVP date is May 15th. Registration deadline for the Pack Campout is June 1st.

Blue & Gold Banquet/Advancement---Do we want to split these activities next year? I would suggest having the Blue & Gold banquet to celebrate scouting’s birthday and then having a separate ceremony (possibly outdoors with flaming arrows) for the Webelos who are moving on to troops.

Treasurer’s Report – Cindy Clark

Computer Recycling Roundup Day sponsored by the City of Fort Collins will be held at Foothills Fashion Mall (by JC Penney) from 9AM-2PM on April 28th. If you need more info contact Shirley Bruns at 221-6264.

Youth Jamboree Night at REI is also on April 28th. There will be a tent building contest, food demos, how-to clinics, climbing walls and more! For more info contact Julie Chase at jchase@rei.com or Amy Vogt at avogt@rei.com or call the store at 223-0123.

Does anyone else have any more pack stuff stored at home in your garage, basement, or closets? I am going to try to get the storage unit organized and sorted during the next couple of weeks.

Scouting for Food Pack 191 collected over 700 pounds of food this year. The pack will provide a patch to each boy who participated in this year’s event. Please list the boys who participated from your den on the sheet going around.

Day Camp – Walkaround leader training will be 7:30-8:30PM at May’s Roundtable meeting on May 10th. Station leader training will be held on May 17th at Good Samaritan in Fort Collins at 7:00PM – more info will be given at Roundtable.

What about a summer campout? If we want to have it at Hermit Park we will need parents who work at HP to help stake out land.

Committee positions needed for 2001-2002: Committee Chairman (2 year position)

Assistant Cubmaster, Secretary (beginning February 2002), Webmaster (immediate need!), Pinewood Derby Coordinator, Blue & Gold Banquet Coordinator

I will ask for parent volunteers at the April pack meeting.

AGENDA OF COMMITTEE MEETING ON MARCH 15, 2001

Call to order 6:15PM at Harmony Presbyterian Church

Minutes – Marie Krizanovic

Treasurer’s Report – Cindy Clark

SCOUTING FOR FOOD – Saturday, March 17th

Here are the neighborhood assignments:

Oakridge – Sharks Miramont – Den 4

Paragon Point – Den 1 Brittany Knolls – Foxes

Fossil Creek – Den 5 Huntington Hills – Den 2 & Tiger Cubs

Southridge – Den 3

Fairway Estates and Solar Estates are not covered and will not have signs posted. If you have scouts that live in those neighborhoods they are welcome to collect cans from neighbors.

If you have put flyers up in the neighborhood, please check porches for bags left out for scouts. Every year we get calls from people who left food out that was not picked up.

FRIENDS OF SCOUTING – All pledges are due tonight.

SCOUT SHOW – Saturday, April 5

Chuck and Rick Wells volunteered to take this on. Are we still going to participate? We will need scouts to man the booths if we are going to be in this show.

SUMMER CAMP – Sign up is now in progress. Have your application in by April 1st as they will open the camps up to other councils at that time. We will meet the FOS discount goal.

POPCORN MONEY DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE FORM THAT IS SENT TO COUNCIL!!!!

Any popcorn money discounts should be handled with our pack treasurer – Cindy Clark. If you are not sure what each scout has earned towards camp, give Cindy a call.

WEBELOS OUTDOOR LEADER TRAINING is May 5 (all day). This is a great class to take before you hit the world of Webelos.

PINEWOOD DERBY – Weigh in times on Saturday, March 24th are 2-3PM for Tigers and Wolf and 3-4PM for Bears and Webelos. The race is on Sunday, March 25th starting at 1:00PM until 4:00PM or so. Tigers race first, followed by Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Other (siblings, dads, etc.). If a scout has made a car for Show competition only, please let the weigh-in person know if you want the car to race with your den or if you do not want it to race at all.

We still need help with set-up, weigh-in, race assistants and a judge.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES – Jody Leone and Laura Dekdebrun are the coordinators this year. So far, this is what is planned:

June Canoeing and paddle boats at City Park lake and a family picnic

July Visit Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne

August Pool party at Huntington Hills pool

Do we want to have a pack campout this year? Jody also needs input on dates for these events.

PACK T-SHIRTS will be ready for sale at the April pack meeting. Estimated cost will be $8.00/shirt for a light-colored, heavy cotton (Hanes Beefy-T) t-shirt. Child sizes and adult sizes are the same cost. I would suggest we only order adult sizes S-XL as a child size XL is equal to an adult S. Rob Pait will be handling this for us – go Rob!

AGENDA OF COMMITTEE MEETING ON JANUARY 11, 2001

Call to order – 6:15PM
Minutes – Jennifer Ochwat
Treasurer’s Report

Date Changes – a new pack calendar is attached!

bulletMarch 15th - Committee meeting and Roundtable meeting, 6:15PM at Harmony
bulletMarch 31st – Scouting for Food
bulletApril 5th – Roundtable, 7:30PM at Harmony Pres
bulletApril 7th – Scout Show and District Pinewood Derby race at the mall
bulletApril 18th (Wednesday) – Committee meeting, 7-8PM at Werner

Natural Area – Foxes and Den 5 have cleanup this month. Contact Karen Moore at 377-1826 to arrange trash pick.

Storage Unit – We now have one! We need to compile a list of what will be stored. Any suggestions for a quartermaster?

Friends of Scouting – Frank Ramirez will now be doing this. Our goal for this year is: $1,711 for reduced camp fees (Level 1), and $2,360 for free rank awards (Level II). Last year we raised $2,920 of which $455 was from the Cake Bake in January. I don’t know what our goal was last year, but I do know the Cake Bake pushed us up to Level II

Pack T-Shirts – I have checked on prices:

bullet100 quantity of Hanes Beefy-T, 100% cotton t-shirt, Sizes Adult S-XL
bulletXXL is available for $1.50 more per shirt
bulletLight- colors include ash, natural, pebble, light blue, ice gray, stonewash blue, stonewash green and more
bulletOne color printing, one side only $5.02

One color printing, two sides (front/back or chest/back) $5.92
Two color printing, one side only $5.62
Two color printing, two sides $7.12

**We would also need to add tax to these prices.

There will also be set up fees of $15 for one side, $19 for left chest print & back, or $30 for front and back printing. Would the pack pay for these one-time set up fees or do we want to pass them on in the price of the shirts? Once the screen is made we will not have to pay these fees again for any future printings.

January Pack Meeting – CAKE BAKE

The theme is "When I Grow Up". Scouts should make a cake that represents a career they are interested in. Here are the rules:

bulletNo pre-made bakery cakes are allowed. All cakes must be baked at home – a cake mix is fine if you want.
bulletThe scout is the primary baker and designer – we do not want to see "mommy cakes" on display. We know your son has not taken any Wilton cake decorating classes, so we do not expect to see roses, basketweaving, etc! Scout content in design and creation will be a big factor in the judging.
bulletOriginality counts! Feel free to write up an index card or sign to go with your cake that explains why you chose that idea.
bulletCakes will be silent auctioned off, with the top 3 cakes (as selected by a panel of independent judges) to be live auctioned. All money from the cake sale will be used towards meeting our Friends of Scouting goal for this year.
bulletFor the silent auction, bidding begins at $1.00 and will be capped at $________.

Just an idea – do we want to consider a "parent or leader" category in the future? How about a Cubmaster’s Cake entry?

February - Blue & Gold Banquet – Lisa Hardebeck , Chairman (207-0514)

Webelos II dens will have until Friday, February 16th to turn in awards to Jennifer. No other dens will receive awards this month.

Invitations will be given to den leaders tonight to hand out to parents. Please emphasize that the whole family is invited, although the last portion of the banquet will be the Webelos II graduation ceremony. In other words, babies and toddlers are welcome but make plans to have them quiet!

Centerpiece contest – same prize of $25 towards camp fees for the winning den?

Webelos II dens (Flaming Dragons, Badgers, Cobras, Vipers) will set up for the banquet; Webelos I dens (Sharks and Foxes) will take down afterwards.

Each den should make place cards for their table (see idea in the Program Helps). Plastic tablecloths will be provided. The tables are rectangular.

Dates to remember:

bulletJanuary 25 Pack meeting (Cake Bake), 7-8:30PM at Werner
bulletFebruary 8 Committee Meeting and Roundtable, 6:15PM at Harmony Pres
bulletFebruary 16 All Webelos II awards are due to Jennifer
bulletFebruary 22 Blue & Gold Banquet, 6-8:30PM at First United Methodist Church

Roundtable is a district-wide meeting for Cub Scout leaders held on the second Thursday of the month at Harmony Presbyterian Church (400 E. Boardwalk). You are encouraged to attend.

Committee meetings are held at 6:15PM at Harmony Presbyterian Church (prior to Roundtable). Attendance is mandatory. If you cannot attend you need to find someone from your den that can – either another leader or a parent if necessary. Occasionally committee meetings will be held at Melinda’s (see calendar).
