MINUTES OF COMMITTEE MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2003
Attending: Dana Shellberg, Judi Urlocker, Scott Johnson, Pam Harrington,
Kay Lannen, Mark Williams, Sara Hart, Barbara Clayton, Eric Williams, Steve
Tucker, Janet Krech, Jeff Wood, Roger Sherman, Jennifer Ochwat, and Harry Adams
All dens were represented tonight.
Location: Jeff Wood's house
Kay Lannen chaired the meeting.
POPCORN:
Roger Sherman the "Popcorn Kernel" distributed popcorn packets for each den.
Each scout should receive an order form, prize form, and collection envelope.
The selling period is Sept. 13-Oct. 18, 2003. Den leaders shall deliver white
and yellow copies of the completed unit master record summary of Order to
Roger on October 18th. Den Leaders should retain the pink copy for their files.
Popcorn pickup Day is November 8, 2003. Money is due to Roger by November 20,
2003. Each Den Leader may make his/her deadline earlier thus allowing time to
collect late orders/money and then still get everything to Roger on TIME.
The goal this year is $20,000 for Pack 191. If scouts don't want to sell
popcorn, they can donate $75 to the pack instead. Show and Sell options will be
left to individual dens. It was mention that the city of Fort Collins requires a
$10 permit if selling outside a place of business.
A concerned was also mention about the errors in the past on the boys'
prizes. Den leaders were asked to tell the scouts to make sure to write down
your prize or you may not get one! Also to make sure when copying down the
requested prizes that a double check is made for the right prize.
HANDOUTS:
Updated den rosters and Leader information was presented by Kay Lannen.
There were 5 new Tigers; 8 new Wolfs; 2 new Bears; and 2 new Webelos I
Treasurer's Report from Pam Harrington
The current balance was reported to be $2926.79. A motion was moved to ratify
the budget as presented. A motion was made to accept. Then the budget received a
2nd motion and then all in favor was unanimous.
Recharter fees are due by the end of December so Den Leaders need to ask
scouts to pay in November. This cost is $10 for registration and $10.80 for the
magazine. This will carry the scout thru 2004. The Pack will pay for the
transferring fees for any scout. It is $1/scout.
OPEN COMMITTEE POSITIONS: Kay explained to the den leaders that they
needed to encourage ALL parents to help out in Pack 191. The open committee
positions that needed filled were the following: Treasure (Pam Harrington is
leaving soon); Web-Master (Scott Johnson also is leaving soon);Friends of
Scouting; Popcorn Kernel for next year; Assistant to Judy Urlocker in Day-Camp;
Assistant to Kay Lannen in Committee Chair; AND an assistant to the CUBMASTER-Jeff
Wood.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Fast Start training can be found on the website.
A new Den Leader training will be held on September 11, 2003 at 5:30pm at
Harmony Presbyterian.
Roger Sherman will be taking Webelos I & II on September 20, 2003 to Arthur's
Rock
Tiger Adventure Camp at Jack Nicol is September 27, 2003.
A tentative date was planned on October 5th for a Nature Area Clean-Up at
Arapahoe Bend Nature Area.
A new Den Leader training will be held on October 9, 2003 at 5:30pm at
Harmony Presbyterian.
The Pow Wow, a training opportunity for new den leaders is November 15, 2003.
ODDS AND ENDS:
A sheet was passed out by Kay Lannen for den leaders who needed name tags and
T-shirts.
Judy Urlocker passed out patches she had from scouts who missed a day at DAY
CAMP.
All unused Quality Patches 2003 need to be returned to Jennifer Ochwat.
A uniform inspection is planned for October. On the web under scout.org it
shows the proper placement of patches.
Scott Johnson is going to set up a mailing list for the committee members on
the web site.
**All dens must have a representative at the Pack Committee Meeting each
month!
** Award forms for the Pack Meetings are due at The Committee Meeting!
DEN ASSIGNMENTS FOR 2003-04 SCHOOL YEAR:
Woody is in the process of putting together a calendar.
Steve Tucker will run the PACK meeting in Woody's absence on Sept. 19, 2003.
Set up will be den #4B.
Flag ceremony will be den #6.
Sparklers will be den #8.
Closing flag will be den #2.
September's theme is: Soaring to New Heights."
October's theme is: "Once Upon a Time."
