TOP TEN CUB
SCOUT UNIFORM GOOFS |
|
(Guidelines for
‘formal dress’ scout occasions and Pack Uniform Inspection.) |
| 10 |
Wearing red/orange/yellow/whatever soccer shorts with your Scout shirt! |
[all] |
| |
(Our Pack doesn’t require official pants/shorts, but they should wear a dark
color like navy or black. Jeans are OK. Webelos in tan shirts can also
wear olive pants. They should be clean and in good condition.) |
|
| 9 |
Extra pins worn on the uniform or hat (like Academic/Athletic pins, popcorn
pins, etc.). |
[all] |
| |
(We know you’re proud of your accomplishments but these are not part of the
‘official’ uniform and should go elsewhere. This goes for Tigers too. Some
boys have red pride vests or wall banners.) |
|
| 8 |
Activity Badge pins worn on the Webelos hat. |
[Webelos] |
| |
(Wait a minute… That’s OK. Webelos hats are padded in the front to protect
their brain. But only Activity Badge pins would be worn here – not the
other pins. However, Activity Badge pins are usually worn on the “Colors”
on the right sleeve.) Let’s try a different #8… |
|
| 8 |
Webelos Colors worn below the den mascot patch. |
[Webelos] |
| |
(They are pinned just below the USA flag so they cover the Webelos den
mascot patch.
L
However, if a den number is worn, the Colors are pinned below it so
that the number shows. Go figure.) |
|
| 7 |
Too many Summertime Pins and in the wrong places. |
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(You may earn another pin every year but you only wear one at a time on the
right pocket flap. It barely fits in the gap between the top of the
buttonhole and the top of the flap. Put the extras with your popcorn pins
and sports/academic pins.) |
|
| 6½ |
Rank patches in the wrong places. |
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(Plan ahead when putting on the diamond shaped rank patches. Bobcat is
always at the top. When all 4 are on, they will hang off the pocket on both
sides and below. That’s OK. It’s also OK to sew right through the pocket
and shirt together. They have another pocket to put stuff in.)
|
|
| 6¼ |
Arrowpoints in the wrong places. |
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(Arrowpoints go directly underneath the respective Wolf and Bear rank
patches only. The single Gold Arrowpoint is centered below the rank patch
and the Silver Arrowpoints are sewn in pairs below that.) |
|
| 6 |
World Crest Patch is sewn too low! |
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(This round purple patch should be halfway between the shoulder seam and the
top of the left pocket. If it’s too low, there’s no room for the Service
Stars or Knots.) |
|
| 5 |
Service Star is the wrong number or in the wrong place or is missing.
|
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(You only wear one star with the yellow backing at a time. Webelos who
started in the older program could also wear a star with the orange
backing. The star is centered above the left pocket (just eyeball a 3/8”
gap) but below the World Crest Patch. You may have to go back to #6. If
you also have the Religious Knot patch sewn above the left pocket, the
Service Star goes about 3/8” about the knot.) |
|
| 4 |
Missing or incorrectly worn neckerchief. |
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(The neckerchief can be rolled or folded so the height of the triangle is
about 7-8”. Then it will curve around the Scout neatly. It can be worn on
top of or underneath the collar. Any tie slide will do.) |
|
| 3 |
Quality unit patch is not current. |
[Wolf/Bear/Webelos] |
| |
(Boys receive a patch in May if the pack earned it that year) |
|
| 2 |
Extra patches worn on the uniform (like Day Camp, Popcorn, SOAR, etc.) |
[all] |
| |
(Any patch that is not part of the official uniform can be worn as a
“Temporary Patch” on the right pocket of the blue or tan shirts. Patches
can be pinned or tacked at the top just under the flap. Some patches even
have a loop to hang from the button. Only one is worn at a time. Tiger
Cub shirts have no patches.) |
|
| 1 |
Shirt not tucked in! |
[all] |
| |
(Need I say more…) |
|

|
