Cub Scouts take the protection of our youth seriously!
Pack 91 encourages every adult associated with the pack to complete the BSA Youth Protection Course. The BSA requires it be completed before becoming a registered member and the certificate of completion needs to be attached to all applications for adult membership.
Youth Protection Training is online. You can go through the course and take the online test following the training, all in the comfort of your home. This course is required every two years as a condition of membership in the BSA.
To take this online course, and others, open an account at: My Scouting. A BSA ID Number is requested at time of application. Just leave it blank at this time. It can be added later. Once your account is open, use the links at the left side to find the E-Learning Center.
Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader!
Adults don't just come to Cub Scouts knowing how to make the program run. The BSA provides training in both online and classroom programs to help leaders become effective in their roles in scouts.
Online Courses
Online courses are available to help new and seasoned adult leaders learn the skills needed to put on a quality Cub Scout program. The two courses all Cub Scout Leaders should take as soon as possible after joining are:
- This Is Scouting! - This Is Scouting! gives the big picture look at the entire Boy Scout of America program. It takes approximately 45 minutes.
- Cub Scout Leader Fast Start - online training designed for the new Cub Scout leader. These self-paced web programs provide information about the Cub Scout program. It should take you only 30 minutes to complete this training. There is also valuable information for experienced leaders taking over new responsibilities.
- Cub Leader Basic and Position-Specific Training - Starting in August 2010, online training is available for the following Cub Scout Leader Specific Positions: Tiger Cub leader, Wolf and Bear den leader, Webelos den leader, Cubmaster, and Committee member. Reserve 30 minutes per course. These courses may be completed in a classroom setting also.
To take these online courses, and others, go to your account at: My Scouting. A BSA ID Number found on your membership card should be included in your profile. Use the links at the left side to find the E-Learning Center.
Classroom Training
A class taught by experienced scouters will help understand both the big picture of scouting and your specific tasks.
- Cub Leader Basic and
Position-Specific Training - This is a three hour program in which all
leaders will participate in a large group session, then break out into
position-specific sessions for Tiger Cub leader, Wolf and Bear den
leader,
Webelos den leader, Cubmaster, and Committee member.
