NATURAL RESOURCES

Another goal of the Poudre River Trust is to enhance fish
and wildlife habitat of the Poudre River by preserving the
natural environment and blending these critical features
into future development.

Of all the bird habitats in Colorado, cottonwood
bottomlands such as the Poudre's have been found to
contain the most bird species. One study showed 114
different species along the Poudre, including the black-
capped chickadee, great horned owl, belted king fisher,
great blue heron, bald eagle and red tailed hawk. Wood
ducks also nest along the Poudre. Occasionally, very rate
birds such as the yellow-crowned heron can be seen.
