- March 9th, 2008Last Game for Our SeniorsJane Coppinger
This afternoon’s game against the University of Wyoming was a big win for us. Today was the last league game for our seniors, myself included, it’s hard knowing that after rugby and college all there is only the “real” world to look forward to. Winning against a truly tough team and rival ensured that seniors walked off the pitch with some teary eyes but also some big grins. Today’s game demonstrated the power that this team has within each of the forwards but also the skill within each member of the backline and what type of domination can ensue when both communicate and integrate with each other flawlessly. Our next step is to perfect our strategy and prepare for our upcoming regional tournament. Only good things are to come. Also, please remember that we will be participating in a fund raiser with Cold Stone Creamery the 24th of this month and we hope to see everyone there helping us in our efforts of making it to the National Championship tournament this May.

Just an FYI for all of you CSU Women’s Rugby fans out there, we are going to Regionals this April with the hopes of going all the way to the National Championship Tournament in Stanford California. This means a lot of great rugby but also a lot of travel. Sadly, travel isn’t cheap and we need help. So mark your calendars, on March 24th from 7-9pm our team takes over Coldstone Creamery on the corner of Laurel and College Avenue. So please come by enjoy the treats and make sure to mention that you would like a portion of your ice cream costs to go to the CSU Women’s Rugby Team.
Also if the generous mood does strike and you would be willing to donate to the teams travel fund that would be greatly appreciated. Just make sure to contact one of the team officers. Thank you.

Hey girls...
So, starting Tuesday February 5th!! Our times are just a little different this semester. These will change after March 1st. but for now...
Tuesdays will be on the turf athletic field. 6:30-8:30pm.
Fridays will be on field six (where we normally practice) at 5:30-7:00 pm.
As you can see we are practicing outside, so make sure everybody is prepared for whatever weather. Its not likely practice will be cancelled very often; so get pumped about probably being cold a lot.
We will be starting trainings next week as well. We will be doing the morning and evening sessions like we did last semester. We have a couple different options though this semester so will have to talk about these on the 4th to get the teams opinions.
I can’t wait to see all you guys!!

Within the past couple of weeks CSU women's rugby has been working really hard. Intensity during practice has really been ramping up and it paid off just a few weeks ago in our game against CU. The final score being 17 to 0 in our favor. This was a sweet victory, being our only win against CU in my fours years of rugby with CSU. This however, was probably one of our hardest games ever. Every player on the CU team proved to be a worthy opponent and playing such a good team only forced us to play better rugby. Afterward we prepared for Wyoming. Sadly, we did not get the have the game we had been anticipating due to snowy conditions. This game has been rescheduled for the spring. Our next upcoming game was added to the schedule about a week ago and is a non-league game against the girls at the School of Mines this upcoming Saturday. Our game with the Mines girls will be in Golden and should be a lot of fun. It will also be good experience for all of the players involved.

This past weekend’s win against UNC brings us one step closer to the D2 regional competition this year. Sweet! There are still some things the team needs to work on before we go to regionals, but it was an exciting win none the less. In the second half, both wings ensured that UNC saw little time in the lead. Good job girls! And congrats to all the rookies who played in their very first league game of the season; your big ruggers are very proud.
