What Do We Do?

Based in the Fort Collins/Loveland area of northern Colorado, the Northern Colorado Traditional Jazz Society is a group of jazz enthusiasts who enjoy and support traditional and other forms of jazz in this region. Our Society is a Colorado nonprofit corporation governed by a board of directors and run entirely by volunteers. Here are some of the things we do:

We sponsor live music. Each year we're instrumental in bringing musical events to northern Colorado. These feature local favorites, up-and-coming newcomers, and regional groups. The musicians range from soloists to small combos to full-size bands, with some free-swinging jam sessions thrown in.

We support local musicians. For instance, we help the wildly popular New Orleans style jazz band The Poudre River Irregulars by providing occasional guest artists to join them for their monthly concerts. See Sponsored Events for more about this.

Our future plans. Our range of concerts continues to grow. The larger and stronger the Society becomes, the better opportunity we'll have to attract top jazz musicians from all over the country to play for us here. As we grow, we also intend to offer scholarships to students studying jazz.

Our Goals
To preserve, support, and foster traditional jazz in its various forms, to assist our members in their enjoyment and knowledge of jazz, to promote jazz education, and to provide a forum for jazz musicians to showcase their talents to an appreciative and knowledgeable audience.
