Fort Collins Municipal Railway History

Streetcars operated in Fort Collins from 1907 through 1951, first by a division of the Denver and Interurban Railroad, then later by the City. These pages offer a brief overview of Fort Collins streetcars, plus our current Car 25 project:

  • Trolley Cars of Fort Collins, by E.S. Payton, R.A. Moorman and Ken Jessen. Describes the history of the FCMR and restoration by the FCMRS. Available in our Online Depot and at the City Park Depot when the car is there.

    • Colorado Rail Annual No. 17, co-authored by one of the Society"s invaluable volunteers, the late Al Kilminster.
    • Centennial State Trolleys, by Ken Fletcher. Chronicles all major streetcar lines in Colorado, including a fine chapter on the FCMR.
